She knows she's down bad, but she just... it's cowardly, but she can't bring herself to admit it to the one person who matters most. The thought of things going poorly - not just of rejection, but of their living situation becoming uncomfortable - is paralyzing.

So she pushes aside the way her heart jumps when she sees her in just a towel, and grabs her things as well. ]

they dance around each other like fools instead, both of them too afraid to challenge the status quo, if it means potentially losing the other person. this is enough, isn't it? just being close friends, just being able to be near to the person she most cares about. when lyric accepts, dan heng smiles and steps back from the doorway, leaning to pluck up her own shower caddy from where she'd left it beside the door. ]
