[ finals have passed at last, and dan heng feels like she can breathe again. she's done well enough on them, she thinks, but even though her last test was this afternoon, she's still feeling a little bit anxious, like she can't unwind, the pressure of their exams still bearing down on her even though they're over.

so, wrapped in a warm, fluffy towel, she knocks on lyric's doorframe in their shared dormitory. ]

Hey. I'm going to take a bath to unwind. Did you want to join me?

[ Sometimes Lyric thinks Dan Heng is trying to kill her. Because while she might wish her crush was securely under wraps, she knows it isn't. She knows she's down bad, but she just... it's cowardly, but she can't bring herself to admit it to the one person who matters most. The thought of things going poorly - not just of rejection, but of their living situation becoming uncomfortable - is paralyzing.

So she pushes aside the way her heart jumps when she sees her in just a towel, and grabs her things as well. ]

- Oh. Sure.

[ She could use a bath as well... though, in some ways, it might not be quite as relaxing with the two of them. It's fine(???) ]

[ surely dan heng must know. surely lyric's crush is obvious to anyone and everyone. surely dan heng isn't stupid enough to not pick up on it even a little bit.

right, of course, just as surely as lyric is to pick up on dan heng's crush too, right?

they dance around each other like fools instead, both of them too afraid to challenge the status quo, if it means potentially losing the other person. this is enough, isn't it? just being close friends, just being able to be near to the person she most cares about. when lyric accepts, dan heng smiles and steps back from the doorway, leaning to pluck up her own shower caddy from where she'd left it beside the door. ]

[ dan heng is observant enough to have noticed how stressed lyric has been about their finals, even if she's too blind to see all the rest. ]
