2. i'm so afraid

[ Sometimes, Akihi feels like he's dreaming. Like - first, to even be noticed by someone like Doppo, who... okay, may be the least well-known member of Matenrou, but is still a member of Matenrou? And then to actually get opportunities to spend time with him, and develop a relationship? His depression says he'll wake up from this fantasy to a cold and empty bed, but the only chill he's feeling at the moment is the crisp night air against his cheek.

He pulls his jacket tighter around himself, trying not to shiver as he waits outside Doppo's office. Their plans are simple - a low-key dinner date after a long day at work - but Akihi's heart races with anticipation all the same. ]

[Feeling like he's dreaming - that's something that Akihi and Doppo have in common. Akihi seems to put him on a pedestal because of Matenrou but Akihi is definitely... definitely the one to be admired. The one who is way out of his league despite their common flaws.

Akihi, like, actually likes his job and is really good at it for one. Whenever he talks about it, it sounds so fulfilling. So, he definitely gets his work done on time and isn't hassled by his baldy boss to work later even though he has a date planned the same night!!

It takes an unhealthy amount of energy shots but Doppo does it. He finishes his work by the skin of his teeth and skids out of his office faster than he's ever moved before.]

Akihi-san! [He bows deep, nearly bending in half, once his boyfriend is in sight.] I'm so, so, so sorry! I hope you weren't waiting long.

[Rrngh.]

[akihi]

[ Almost immediately, Akihi's bowing just as deep. ] N-no! It's okay... I'm sorry to make you rush. [ Yes, he had no idea Doppo would be faced with such sudden and urgent deadlines, but the apologies flow out regardless. ]

But, you're probably tired, right...? So... I don't want to make you go out with me if you don't want to...

[Doppo snaps up, rimrod straight, from his bow.] No!

[Ugh. He squeezes his eyes shut.] I mean, I do want to do out with you.

I'm really tired... [He can't deny that and he isn't about to lie to Akihi about it.] When I was at my desk, I was just thinking about how much I wanted to go home and melt into my sheets and not even sleep because sleeping just means waking up the next morning and having to see that shitty baldy all over again and -- [Doppo sucks in a deep breath, stopping himself from spiraling. He counts backwards too, to bring him back to the present, just like Sensei taught him.]

But I think...! Just seeing your face has given me a little energy boost. And - and, I've been looking forward to it all day...

[The whiplash... he just went from sounding super pathetic to super desperate. WHY does Akihi want to date him!]

[ In Akihi's eyes, he's neither pathetic nor desperate. It's actually sweet, that his presence alone could cheer Doppo up after a drag of a day, and that he actually was eager to spend time with him.

His lips quiver into a shy yet enamored smile. ] M-me too. [ As much as he likes his job, he wished the day to go faster, so he could get to this moment sooner where they're not even holding hands because they're still in front of Doppo's office, but they're together. ]

Maybe we can get take-out? My sister's with her fiancé, so... um... [ "we'd have the place to ourselves", he wants to say, but dshsdjkgddfjjgb ]
